Djibouti Shipping Company’s MV Africa Sun enters dry dock at DSRY for maintenance
Djibouti, October 15, 2025 – The Djibouti Shipping Company (DSC) is pleased to announce the successful dry-docking of its vessel, the MV Africa Sun , at the Djibouti Ship Repair Yard (DSRY) .
This step marks the launch of a major maintenance and inspection program aimed at ensuring the highest standards of safety , operational performance and international compliance .
An exemplary technical maneuver
Under the supervision of the Port Commander , Captain Mohamed Moussa Abar , the General Manager of the Djibouti Shipping Company , Mr. Mohamed Mahamoud Djama , and the Director of DSRY , the dry-docking maneuver was successfully carried out in the morning.
The Djibouti Shipping Company wishes to commend the professionalism and outstanding work accomplished by all the teams involved.
A comprehensive maintenance program
The work undertaken at DSRY covers several essential aspects:
Inspection of the hull and underwater structures.
Verification of electrical and automation systems.
Structural repairs and bridge work.
Maintenance of bilges and piping systems.
Security checks and regulatory compliance.
More than 150 specialist technicians were mobilized to carry out these operations, which were performed in strict compliance with international standards and the planned deadlines .
Towards the resumption of regional service
Following this maintenance program, the MV Africa Sun will soon resume its regular rotations connecting Djibouti , Jeddah , Port Sudan , Massawa , Jebel Ali and Khalifa Port .
This resumption is fully in line with the mission of the Djibouti Shipping Company , which works to strengthen regional maritime connectivity and support the development of trade between the ports of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
